Tremendous power and respect in business and in life will come to you when you are tough. We live in a world of technology and modernity that has made us slowly but truly weaker, at the expenses of our will to create, to survive, to build, to dream.
We have to develop a thick skin, embrace failure, face your fears and not complaining of small nuisances (e.g. skipping a meal, bed not comfy or sleeping in a tent on the hard ground).
Examples of things you can do to train your brain and toughen up: do 100 push up, take a cold shower, take a martial arts class, lift weights (the only thing that renews the body on a cellular level), sit down and read a business book without getting up, or simply walk to take groceries instead of taking the car.
Next time you don’t want to do something, just do it to train your brain with the sole purpose of training your brain.
Take an example from the Spartans and their strict rules used to train their children. They were military-style educated, challenged physically and encouraged to fight, ritualistically tested, intentionally kept sometimes starving, not allowed to live with their wives until age 30, and considered a disgrace if ever surrendered in a battle.
